Job summary

LEE Industries is seeking a Sewing Trainer in Conover, NC. This full‑time role offers 40–45 hours per week, no Saturdays, and a strong benefits package, including access to our healthcare clinic from day one for employees, spouses, and children, plus two company‑wide shutdown weeks.

The Sewing Trainer reports to the Sewing Manager and Sewing Lead to support workflow from borders, sewing, topstitching, surge and inspection. Training and process improvement are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years furniture/upholstery sewing experience.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, AS400 and IBM Notes.
• Ability to train and supervise sewing associates.
• Capable of documenting repairs and logging data for reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist with workflow from borders, sewing, topstitching, surge and inspection.
• Work with associates on work tickets or specification sheets.
• Address repairs and quality concerns with production teams.
• Log repairs and contribute to weekly, monthly and yearly quality reports.
• Maintain production flow and identify bottlenecks to keep output steady.
• Train all new sewing associates and resolve sewing issues.
• Sew new products, specialty items and customs.

SUMMARY:

The Sewing Trainer will report to the Sewing Manager & Sewing Lead to assist with workflow from

borders, sewing, topstitching, surge, and inspection.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with sewing associates concerning questions with work tickets or specification sheets.
• Work directly with associates concerning repairs and quality.
• Document repairs from associates and log for weekly, monthly, and yearly quality reports.
• Keep production flowing by correct schedule date and look for bottleneck areas to keep work production flowing.
• Stay in constant communication with the Sewing Manager & Sewing Lead on all mentioned above and where improvement(s) are needed.
• Long periods of standing/walking.
• Training of all new sewing associates.
• Able to resolve issues and sewing problems.
• Sew new products, specialty items, and customs.
• Prepare sewing specifications from product development.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Proficient with using computers for reporting, emails, look up production information Word, Excel, AS400, IBM Notes.
• Must have at least 3 years furniture/upholstery sewing experience.
• Ability to work with various types of associates from management to manufacturing.
• Know LEE sewing standards. Take apart repairs when needed to find out sewing issues
