Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking a Weather Essential Sewer Maintenance Worker to perform unskilled and semi-skilled labor in sewer construction and maintenance. You will work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends, and respond to emergencies as needed.

You will handle sewer rods, rodding machines, cement mixers, and other heavy tools in all weather conditions. Minimum qualifications include completing the eighth grade, one year of water works experience preferred, and a Texas Class A

Qualifications

• Completion of Eighth Grade or equivalent
• One year of water works experience preferred
• Valid Texas Driver's License; ability to obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Assists in repair and construction of sewer lines, manholes, taps and rods sewer mains
• Cleans and removes debris from sewer mains and manholes
• Operates service trucks occasionally
• Assists crews such as hand rodding, vactor unit, tap crew, TV unit and lift stations
• Keeps vehicles and tools clean and in good working order
• Cleans shop and work area
• Barricades streets and alleys to protect the public and coworkers
• Works around traffic wearing provided safety equipment
• Overtime as required and available for emergencies
• Rotating shifts as needed
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
