Job summary

Vortex Companies, LLC in Houston, Texas is seeking a Sewer Construction Laborer to join a fast-growing infrastructure team. You will support sewer maintenance, inspection, and rehabilitation projects, and assist with operation and maintenance of pipe bursting equipment.

The role requires physical labor, ability to work outdoors year-round, and willingness to travel 100% with a daily per diem of $60. DOT physical and drug testing are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in physical labor or outdoor construction preferred.
• Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.
• Willingness to travel 100% with daily per diem.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and DOT physical.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• General laborer who performs all work tasks required to support execution of sewer maintenance, inspection and/or rehabilitation pipeline tasks


• Makes routine decisions and takes direction from supervision.


• Able to work outside year-round.


• Operation and maintenance of all pipe bursting equipment


• Can lift, push/pull, carry 50 lbs.

Skills and Specifications

• Capable of following instructions and on-the-job training.


• Basic or advanced math skills.


• Ability to operate a variety of simple and complex tools.

Education and Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.


• Experience working in a physical labor position and/or outdoor construction preferred.


• Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.


• Ability to work overtime and out of town, 100% travel, includes daily per diem ($60 / day).


• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test, D.O.T. physical and driver’s license check for past 36 months without any suspensions or major traffic violations (D.O.T. requirements).
