Job Title: Turning Set Up Technician
Location: West Plant, Columbus, IN
Report To: Technical Supervisor- Herby Asher
Overview
Responsible for the set-up and start-up of production jobs as required to meet schedules and customer commitments. The set-up technician will have the ability and knowledge to change over shaft, CNC turning and induction heat-treat equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintains cycle process integrity with the direction of the production supervisor
- Works with support department to ensure tools, machines and processes are optimized
- Recommends and implements changes and improvements to cycles, processes and procedures to maintain schedules and quality parts
- Maintains documentation and paperwork to support production cycles and procedures
- Works directly with process technicians to suggest improvements in processes and procedures
- Works with machine operators to improve current processes and procedures
- Performs set-ups, samples and other production related duties to maintain production schedules
- Assists with training as necessary
- Ability to read machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts
- Follow safety policies and report unsafe working conditions
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor, such as operating production line
Qualifications
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment dealing with the operation of CNC equipment
- Familiarity with metrics, blueprint reading, micrometers and calipers
- Prior experience with set-up of gauging and programmable automation helpful
- Prior technical training desired
- Excellent verbal & written communications skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Capable of learning various software
- High School Diploma

- Near-vision for adjusting machinery parts and reading dials
- Manual Dexterity and Hand-Eye Coordination: skill with tools for assembly, calibration, and equipment adjustment; precision in handling small components

- Physical Coordination and Safety Awareness: efficient movement around the workspace with awareness of hazards; PPE adherence
- Adaptability to Environmental Conditions: ability to work in varying temperatures, noisy environments, and confined spaces
