TITLE: Service Writer

REPORTING TO: Service Manager EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt / hourly

General Summary
The Service Writer embodies VIP’s mission to EARN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE by embracing the VIP culture and processes, ensuring customers have a superior experience. The role requires effective teamwork, communication, and operational execution to serve customers at our location. The Service Writer delivers exceptional customer service and high-performance results by helping the team meet VIP standards and programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prioritize workplace safety by following all safety policies, completing safety training, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Consult with customers, build relationships, and educate them about their vehicle's condition based on inspections.
  • Achieve above-average success in customer engagement as measured by VIP SAX scores.
  • Learn and execute all assigned activities from the Service Manager to provide a better customer experience.
  • Complete LMS and vendor training, and obtain certifications such as T.I.A. BATS, TPMS, and ASE.
  • Communicate effectively with the team via daily huddles and meetings.
  • Manage work order dispatching to technicians efficiently.
  • Participate in off-site meetings and training as needed.
  • Maintain facility and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Enforce compliance with all regulations and company policies.
  • Support management in achieving performance targets through reporting and collaboration.

Performance Measurement
Support the Service Manager in achieving performance goals through daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

Standard Work Week
Expect a 5-day, 40-hour work schedule with punctual attendance.

Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills, business sense, organization, and automotive industry knowledge.
  • At least 1 year of automotive service experience; college or technical schooling recommended.
  • Valid driver’s license, ASE C1 certification required; P2 and G1 certifications recommended.
  • State Inspection License where applicable.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work performed indoors in a facility exposed to weather, noise, and chemicals. Physical activity includes standing, reaching, walking, and lifting up to 21 lbs, with protective gear required.
