Job summary

North Central International is seeking a Service Writer to greet customers, document service needs, and prepare repair orders. You will estimate costs for additional work and obtain customer approval for repairs while guiding them to related services.

You will also coordinate with diesel technicians, schedule repairs, and maintain clear communication with customers about status and next steps, ensuring a smooth, customer-focused experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience managing a team of technicians.
• Working knowledge of truck shop operations; mechanical experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with both internal teams and customers.
• Proficiency with standard business software and ability to learn proprietary systems.

Responsibilities

Service Writer

North Central International is a full-service Navistar/International Truck dealer group with locations across Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and South Dakota. We offer truck sales and service, parts sales, and Idealease truck leasing/rentals. Our primary focus is to keep customers on the road by having an exceptional experience within our organizations. Candidate will greet customers, listen to their description of the problems or service needed, determine the type of service required and prepare repair orders. If a vehicle requires additional repairs not covered in the original order, they estimate the additional cost and telephone the customer for permission to do the work. They also advise customers on other available services.

• Make quick, informed decisions to address issues as they arise.


• Maintain a calm, solutions-oriented approach during high-volume periods.


• Must be a leader with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


• Must be able to multi-task.


• Must be computer literate with the ability to learn our business system.
