Job summary

Team One Chevrolet Buick GMC Truck in Mid-Michigan is seeking an Automotive Vehicle Detailer to clean and refurbish new and used vehicles to showroom quality. You’ll wash, wax, polish exteriors and detail interiors, including upholstery, engines, and leather or fabric treatments.

A careful eye for detail and physical stamina are essential, with training provided and no prior dealership experience required. Competitive pay, benefits, and a family-owned environment await the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Eye for detail and passion for cars.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Previous experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, wax, and polish exterior; clean interior to showroom standards.
  • Detail upholstery, rugs, windows, engines; ensure showroom readiness.

  • Maintain neat work area; operate tools safely and reporting safety issues.

What You’ll Do (full job description listed below):

  • Clean & Shine: Wash, wax, and polish the exterior, while making the interior spotless.
  • Detail Master: Clean upholstery, rugs, windows, and even engines, making every vehicle showroom ready.
  • Enhance & Protect: Apply treatments to keep leather, vinyl, and fabric in top condition.
  • Attention to Detail: Use specialized cleaners for those tough spots regular cleaning can't fix.

What You Need:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A great eye for detail and a passion for cars
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs periodically and be on your feet throughout the day
  • Previous experience is a plus, but not required!

SUMMARY

Cleans and refurbishes new and used automobiles. Conforms to dealership and/or manufacturer specifications and time allowances.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows, and wipes down doorjambs.

Applies wax to auto body, and wipes or buffs surface.

Vacuums interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris.

Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.

Applies revitalizers and preservation agents to interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot- and stain-resistant chemicals.

Applies special-purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product manufacturer's recommendations.

Uses proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.

Applies dressing on tires and tire wells.

Keeps work area neat and clean.

Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

MARGINAL DUTIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Cleans engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.

Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation.

Restores appearance of engine area, rugs and upholstery, and painted surfaces. Uses touch-up paint, dyes, and other appropriate materials.

Fills vehicle with fuel.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
