Job summary

W-L Construction & Paving, Inc. is seeking a Service Truck Driver to support asphalt/milling crews on highways and driveways. The starting pay is $22.00 per hour. You will refill equipment, perform required inspections, and transport materials between facilities and job sites in a safety‑driven role.

The position emphasizes teamwork with forepersons and project managers, DOT compliance, and the possibility of overtime or out‑of‑town assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• Must possess Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and necessary endorsements.
• Hazardous materials and tank endorsements may be required for hauling certain vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Refill equipment at work site as instructed by foreperson.
• Follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment.
• Preform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
• Must keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.
• Loading and unloading equipment.
• Must partner with Superintendent/Project Manager to ensure daily schedules are met.
• Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew can operate at normal efficiency level.
• Physical ability to operate equipment and to transport material under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time.
• Attitude/Cooperation: Must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, public.
• Craftsmanship and ability to follow OSHA/MSHA safety standards.
• Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required.
• Ability to transport material with attention to detail and emphasis on safety.
• Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completion.
• Ability to adhere to PPE policy and maintain PPE in functional condition.
• Must be able to check truck for maintenance needed and report deficiencies promptly.
• Must pass drug test and background check.
• Pass DOT pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical.
• CDL
• Ability to follow Traffic Control Crew instructions and practice safety standards.
• Ability to assist in flagging operations as needed and instructed.
• May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.

Job Description Summary

Crew member essential to asphalt/milling crew for refilling equipment at work site as instructed by foreperson on highways/private roadways/parking lots/driveway work zones using multi-axle water truck.

Work Requirements

• Driving water truck and operating equipment associated with heavy highway/commercial work construction and schedules
• May be required to use power and/or hand tools needed to complete jobs within specifications
• Must be able to adapt and work in extreme weather temperatures
• Job requires following motions: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, stretching, driving, sitting, shifting gears, pulling, lifting, and squatting
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs. for repetitious lifting occasionally while using proper lifting techniques.

Work Environment

• Will be exposed to extremes of heat or cold weather.

Education/Experience
