Job summary

Ambient Enterprises is seeking a field service technician to work on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in large commercial HVAC settings. You will install, start up, troubleshoot, and service VFDs in environments that may include hospitals, universities, and government facilities.

Travel to clients across Western PA, Ohio, Northern West Virginia, Northern Virginia, DC, and Southern Michigan is required. A strong electrical background, ability to lift 75 lbs, and a valid driver's license are

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on VFD experience in the field.
• Experience with AHUs, pump applications and cooling towers is a plus.
• Working knowledge of HVAC loop, circuitry and schematics.
• Building Management Systems experience / working knowledge.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to work and learn.

Job Description: Role: Service Technician VFD

We are seeking a field service technician, both experienced and entry level, to work on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in the commercial HVAC market. These drives are used to control motor speeds on pumps and fans in large commercial buildings such as hospitals, universities, schools, water treatment plants, government and commercial offices. Our technicians work with large AC Voltages up to 480VDC as well as small control voltages such as 24VDC. Therefore, a working knowledge of electrical components and electricity in general is necessary. The areas we service include Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Northern West Virginia, Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Southern Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Installing, starting up, troubleshooting, and general service of VFDs.
• Knowing proper operation of hand and power tools, running wires, conduit work, and using electronic measuring tools - multi-meters, amp clamps, and harmonic analyzers.
• Traveling to clients.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on VFD experience in the field.
• Prior experience with VFDs as they apply to AHUs, pump applications, and cooling towers is a plus.
• Working knowledge of the HVAC loop, circuitry, and schematics.
• Building Management Systems experience / working knowledge.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suites (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to work and learn.

Estimated Compensation

Estimated Compensation: $24 - $50 hourly based on experience.
