Job summary

Municipal Valve & Equipment Company, Inc. (MVE), a UFT company, is seeking a Service Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain valves and actuators for municipal customers.

The role requires mechanical and electrical aptitude, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation. The position involves roughly 50% travel and work onsite in Addison, TX, with typical hours 7 am to 4 pm or until completion.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working with valves or actuators (electric and/or pneumatic).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, low-voltage electrical circuits, and industrial equipment troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, valve drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments, including confined spaces and variable weather.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain valves, electric actuators, and pneumatic actuators for municipal customers.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and calibrate electric and pneumatic actuators.
  • Conduct field inspections, operational testing, and start-ups for new installations.
  • Replace or repair valve components, seals, gears, limit switches, wiring, and mechanical linkages.
  • Perform torque verification, calibration, and positioner setup on equipment.
  • Complete work orders, service reports, and documentation using Microsoft Office.
  • Read electrical schematics and valve drawings; maintain logs of parts used and time spent.
  • Communicate with customers, project managers, and supervisors to provide updates and explanations.
  • Follow safety protocols, lockout/tagout, confined space guidelines, and use PPE.

(MVE), a UFT company is a leading manufacturers’ representative firm who sells and services water and wastewater treatment equipment, valves, and actuators to the waterworks industry in Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and the Florida panhandle. The Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining valves, electric actuators, and pneumatic actuators for municipal customers. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, proficiency with Microsoft applications for equipment programming software, reporting, documentation, and strict adherence to company and industry safety protocols.

The technician must be willing to work out of town approximately 50% of the time depending on project needs and scheduling, and work onsite in Addison, TX. Typical working hours are from 7 am to 4 pm, or until the work is complete.

Valve & Actuator Responsibilities:
  • Performdiagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on butterfly valves, plug valves, gate valves, knife gate valves, and other valve types.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and calibrate electric actuators (AUMA, Limitorque, Rotork) and pneumatic actuators.
  • Conduct field inspections, operational testing, and start-ups for new installations.
  • Replace or repair internal valve components, seals, gears, limit switches, wiring, and mechanical linkages.
  • Perform torque verification, calibration, and positioner setup on relevant equipment.
Technical & Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Complete work orders, service reports, and documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other digital tools.
  • Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, valve drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Maintain accurate logs of parts used, time spent, and job status updates.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, and supervisors to provide updates and technical explanations.
Safety & Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Follow all company safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space guidelines, and jobsite safety rules.
  • Use proper PPE and ensure safe operation of tools, hoisting equipment, and test instruments.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and job hazard analyses.
  • 2+ years of experience working with valves or actuators (electric and/or pneumatic) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, low-voltage electrical circuits, and industrial equipment troubleshooting
  • Ability to use multimeters, torque tools, hand tools, and calibration equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Comfortable traveling to job sites
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments, including confined spaces, elevated platforms, and variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with tools for extended periods.
