Service Technician – Rock 'N' Road – Irvine, CA
Job Summary
A Service Technician is the front line and point person for our brand to the rider, encouraging successful, profitable retail by using technical expertise to create outstanding in‑store brand experiences. The role involves direct interaction with riders, both in person and remotely, to identify the goods, services, and experiences needed to provide quick and frictionless solutions.
How You’ll Make a Difference
- Connect with riders, ask qualifying questions, listen to needs, and give options and advice on meeting those needs from a pre‑set service menu, tune‑ups, or a la carte service.
- Speak authoritatively on technical matters related to our bicycles; act as the expert.
- Assist customers warmly and courteously, delivering “wow” customer service.
- Properly record service work, set and exceed rider expectations, including filling out work orders and scheduling repairs.
- Advising and assisting customers with product/service selection without bias.
- Maintain knowledge of all merchandise in the department to provide accurate, current information as new product lines launch.
- Support bike sales with technical consulting and other floor duties as needed.
- Deliver best‑in‑class rider service that ensures ongoing service and high rider satisfaction.
- Maintain general cleanliness standards at store opening, throughout the day, and at closing, including light janitorial duty.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Lightspeed point‑of‑sale systems and store operational websites.
- Ensure regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Requirements
- Passion for cycling and the Specialized brand.
- Bike shop or bike mechanic experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with riders and team members.
- Willingness to work as business dictates, including weekends.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, kneel, or reach as needed.
- Capability to lift at least 50 lbs. using proper lifting techniques.
