Modigent is seeking entry-level Service Technician I to support HVAC service across commercial facilities. Under supervision, you will assist with maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on rooftop units, air handlers, and related systems.

The role emphasizes safety training, hands-on learning, and career progression through mentorship. You will participate in daily safety briefings, gain EPA/Federal compliance knowledge, and work with experienced teams to build practical skills.

Qualifications

• Experience: 0-2 years in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, facilities maintenance, or related field; no prior commercial HVAC experience required.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; trade school or HVAC certificate a plus (will be supported).
• Certifications: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; EPA 608 preferred; OSHA 10 encouraged (company support provided).
• Physical Demands: Lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces or heights.
• Work Environment/Safety: Field-based in commercial/industrial settings; adhere to OSHA/EPA; PPE required; potential travel and on-call rotations.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians with preventive maintenance, filter changes, belt adjustments, cleaning coils, lubricating components, and basic inspections on commercial HVAC equipment (rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, fans, basic controls).
• Support troubleshooting and repairs under direct guidance, including checking refrigerant levels, tightening connections, replacing minor parts (filters, capacitors, contactors), and assisting with refrigerant recovery/recharge as trained.
• Perform general service call support: prepare tools/parts, document findings, take photos, and complete basic work order entries.
• Help maintain clean, organized work areas, vehicles, and tools; load/unload equipment and materials as needed.
• Participate fully in daily safety briefings, job hazard analyses, toolbox talks, and follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Actively learn commercial HVAC systems, codes, EPA regulations, and best practices through on-the-job training, ride-alongs, and assigned coursework.
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members, reporting observations and asking questions to build knowledge.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None (entry-level role focused on learning and assisting journeyman and senior technicians).

Requirements/Qualifications

• Experience: 0-2 years in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, facilities maintenance, or related construction/trade field; no prior commercial HVAC experience required-strong mechanical aptitude, eagerness to learn, and positive attitude essential.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; trade school, vocational training, or HVAC certificate a plus (will be supported through company-sponsored programs).
• Certifications: Valid driver's license and clean driving record required; EPA Section 608 certification (or willingness to obtain within first 6–12 months) preferred. OSHA 10-hour certification encouraged (company support provided).
• Physical Demands: Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding/stairs, work in confined spaces or at heights, bend/kneel/crouch, reach overhead, and use tools/equipment for extended periods; frequent standing, walking, manual dexterity, and physical stamina required.
• Work Environment/Safety: Primarily field-based in commercial/industrial settings (indoor/outdoor, rooftops, mechanical rooms, varying weather); exposure to noise, dust, heights, refrigerants, electrical hazards, and extreme temperatures; must strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, EPA protocols, conduct hazard identification, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, and steel-toed boots at all times-safety is our top priority and non-negotiable. This is a safety-sensitive position. Frequent regional travel within assigned market, on-call rotations, and flexible hours (including evenings/weekends) may be required as business needs dictate.
