Job description

Service Technician – HVAC IV

Responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex HVAC equipment including chillers, central plants, boilers, building systems, thermal storage systems, and specialty equipment. Conduct scheduled maintenance on all HVAC types, travel to customer sites as needed, train technicians at all levels, and complete logs and paperwork accurately.

Role and Responsibilities

• Service, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment including centrifugal and screw type chillers, central plants and all associated equipment, boilers, complete building systems, thermal storage systems, and complex specialty equipment.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on all types of HVAC equipment.
• Drive to and from customer sites as needed.
• Train technicians of all levels.
• Troubleshoot air and water flow.
• Complete equipment log sheets for Project Managers and upload them into the database.
• Communicate with Team Lead, Coordination Staff, Sales Staff and Customers.
• Complete assigned tasks with minimal assistance from Team Lead.
• Complete all paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Observe, report and correct unsafe work environments.
• Will be included in on call rotation as needed according to business volume and requirements.
• Take care of and maintain company tools and company vehicle.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proficient with troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining commercial HVAC equipment.
• Knowledge of basic refrigerant cycle, heating components and air distribution systems.
• Proficient with brazing, leak checking and the evacuation process.
• Understands mechanical drawings and equipment specifications.
• Ability to abide by basic safe work practices.
• 7+ years of commercial HVAC service experience.
• Universal EPA Certification.
• Ability to efficiently execute repairs with little to no technical assistance.
• Ability to write reports.
• Ability to show up on time, ready to work and in uniform.
• Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
• Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Vision required includes close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs; classified as very heavy physical demand.
• Material Handling: Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs and constant lifting up to 25 lbs; classified as very heavy physical demand.

Work Environment

Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, electrical shock, toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and working in high exposure places.
