Job summary

Kenworth Sales Co. is hiring a Service Technician (2nd Shift) for our Harrisonburg, VA location. The role focuses on high-quality repairs and recommending additional services as needed.

Schedule is 3:30pm–Midnight with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and customer service. A valid CDL and state inspector certification are preferred, with on-the-job training and benefits provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in medium/heavy truck repair and maintenance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with quality workmanship.
• State inspector certification or willingness to obtain.
• Valid CDL class A or B or willingness to obtain one.
• Certifications for PACCAR, Cummins, CAT or willingness to obtain.
• Self-motivated with desire to drive team success.
• Ability to safely operate tools and equipment.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency reading and understanding English instructions.

Responsibilities

• Receive repair orders and perform work in order and with quality.
• Maintain high workmanship standards in all services.
• Advise foreman on recommended service changes.
• Determine further repairs and communicate to foreman.
• Maintain training and experience with equipment and servicing techniques.
• Attend training sessions as required.
• Perform additional repairs if caused by faulty workmanship.
• Keep accurate work orders and time records.

Bring your skills to the 2025Kenworth Dealer of the Year! Kenworth Sales Co., a 38-location Kenworth and Isuzu truck dealership group, is looking for a Service Technician (2nd Shift)to join ourteam in Harrisonburg, VA.

Salary Minimum and Maximum: $18 - $ 35 per hour. Depending on Experience.

JOB SUMMARY:

Schedule: 3:30pm- Midnight

The primary function of the Service Technician is to perform superior quality repairs to customer equipment, and make recommendations for further services as determined by the Technician in the course of the servicing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receives repair order assignments from Shop Foreman
• Performs work directed in order and in a timely and thorough manner. Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
• Advises Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer
• Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer, and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Foreman
• Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment
• Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager
• Performs additional repairs as required when any piece of equipment is returned by the customer because of the Technician’s faulty workmanship
• Maintains accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked jobs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in medium and/or heavy truck repair and maintenance
• Outstanding mechanical aptitude and skills necessary to produce top results
• A VA State Inspector's certification or willingness to obtain it
• A valid class A or B CDL or the willingness to obtain one
• Paccar, Cummins, and CAT Certifications or willingness to obtain
• Personal motivation and self-reliance
• Desire to be the driver of team success
• Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• High school diploma or the equivalent
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This is a physically demanding position.
• Will stand six to eight hours per shift.
• Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Will use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment.
• Will be exposed to noise,vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
