Job summary

ACI Mechanical is a full‑service contractor seeking a Service Technician to join our team in Cedar Rapids, IA, reporting to the Service Manager in Ames, IA. You will perform maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and associated equipment, including wiring and control adjustments, while maintaining safety and documentation.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, HVAC knowledge (2-year degree preferred), and valid refrigerant/cart licenses.

Qualifications

• 2-year HVAC associate degree preferred.
• Universal Refrigerant Card holder.
• State trade licenses and continuing education to perform service work in multiple states.
• Driving record meets company requirements.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and ductwork.
• Install wiring and controls for HVAC components and read gauges/readouts.
• Troubleshoot, replace or adjust worn parts to repair systems.
• Interact with CSUSA National Accounts Group and third-party providers for client needs.
• Inform dispatch of job statuses and record next service call information.
• Maintain company vehicles and tools and be available for on-call time.

Job Summary

ACI Mechanical is seeking a Service Technician to join our team. This role includes, but is not limited to, quality service work in general, special projects, and additional duties as requested by the job supervisor.

This position will be located in Cedar Rapids, IA and report to the Service Manager in Ames, IA.

Duties

• Perform maintenance and repair of direct expansion AC equipment, gas fired and electric heating systems, low voltage temperature control systems, and HVAC air handling equipment and duct systems.
• Perform basic maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, including changing air filters, cleaning condenser/evaporator coils, fans and ductwork, and inspecting and adjusting fan shafts and belts.
• Install wiring to connect components, start systems, observe operations, read gauges and instruments, and adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls, safeties and pumps to control system fluid, pressure and temperature.
• Troubleshoot, replace or adjust defective worn parts to repair systems.
• Interact via cell phone with CSUSA National Accounts Group and third‑party service providers/control companies to check in and out of client sites and acquire NTE adjustments from CSUSA Account Managers when necessary.
• Contact Service Office to acquire purchase orders for any materials required to complete a service call.
• Inform dispatch of job statuses, check in and out at the beginning and end of day, and receive the next day’s service call information.
• Accurately record your time per service call.
• Be available for on‑call time as needed on evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Maintain company vehicles and tools.
• Always follow all safety policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Employees may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, loud noises and other hazards while on site, within OSHA standards. Outdoor work may involve inclement weather such as heat, humidity, cold, wind and dust. Work may require carrying up to 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally, standing for long periods, walking moderate to long distances on varying surfaces, climbing, crawling, crouching, reaching, gripping, pushing and pulling without issue.
