Job summary

Kenworth Sales Co in Ontario, OR is seeking a Service Technician Apprentice to perform high-quality repairs on customer equipment and suggest additional services as directed by the Technician.

This entry-level position requires working knowledge of truck repair, a trade school or apprenticeship background, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to read and follow English instructions. You will train under experienced technicians and grow skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Trade School or experience as Technician’s helper or apprentice in truck shop.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information.
• Outstanding mechanical aptitude and ability to operate power and hand tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Receives repair order assignments from Shop Foreman.
• Follows instructions and executes work assignments in repair order thoroughly and efficiently.
• Maintains superior workmanship in all services performed.
• Advises Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer.
• Determines if further repairs should be recommended and communicates this to the Shop Foreman.
• Maintain training with equipment and servicing techniques; follow guidance from experienced Technicians.
• Attend training sessions as required by the Service Manager.
• Perform additional repairs if issues arise from previous workmanship.
• Maintain accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked.

Salary Minimum and Maximum:$20-$25

JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the Service Technician Apprentice is to perform superior quality repairs to customer equipment and make recommendations for further services as determined by the Technician during service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receives repair order assignments from Shop Foreman
• Follows instructions and executes work assignments in repair order thoroughly and efficiently.
• Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
• Advises Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer
• Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer, and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Foreman
• Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment
• Collaborate with and follow guidance from experienced Technicians as instructed by the Shop Foreman.
• Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager
• Performs additional repairs as required when any piece of equipment is returned by the customer because of the Technician’s faulty workmanship.
• Maintains accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked jobs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Working knowledge of truck repair and maintenance. Outstanding mechanical aptitude and skills necessary to produce top results. Trade School or experience as Technician’s helper or apprentice in truck shop. Manual dexterity. Good judgment. Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely. Driver’s License and good driving record. Excellent organization and communication skills. High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
