Job summary

The Fulton Companies seeks a Service Technician Apprentice to provide field support for maintaining Fulton equipment and systems, with factory support as needed.

Under supervision, you will gain hands-on training, perform service tasks, complete documentation, and develop technical and safety skills for advancement within a private multinational group.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior boiler or thermal experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and/or electrical knowledge.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Service work - Perform field service tasks safely and efficiently to meet customer expectations.
  • Training – Acquire training to perform field service on Fulton equipment and controls.
  • Preparedness – Review NB files and previous service reports to prep for field jobs.
  • Documentation – Complete required documentation and communicate findings to improve quality.
  • Off Road – Support manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement efforts when not traveling for field jobs.

REQUIREMENTS:

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:

Under supervision of a Senior Service Technician, the Service Technician Apprentice is responsible to provide excellent field support for maintaining Fulton equipment and systems until fully trained. This position is also responsible to provide support at the factory. The Service Technician Apprentice is responsible to obtain the appropriate training to provide field support. The Service Technician Apprentice is responsible to provide all support and services in a manner that is consistent with the company values and operating philosophy.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Service work- Perform technical service work in the field in a safe, efficient, capable manner that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  2. Training – Obtain the needed training and knowledge base to maintain the ability to conduct service field work on assigned equipment and controls.
  3. Preparedness – Perform the necessary work to properly prepare for field jobs including review of NB files, previous service reports, site readiness and more.
  4. Documentation – Complete all required documentation and communication associated with the service work and continuous improve quality efforts.
  5. Off Road – Efficiently perform value added functions when not traveling in the areas of manufacturing, quality and continuous improvements efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications and Required Experience)
  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Prior boiler or thermal experience preferred
  3. Demonstrated mechanical and/or electrical knowledge
  4. Willingness to travel for extended periods of time
DEMONSTRATED CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:
  1. Communication – Ability to ensure information is passed on to others who should be kept informed. Ability to express oneself clearly in conversation and interaction with others. Ability to express oneself clearly in business writing.
  2. Analytical Thinking – The ability to tackle a problem by using logical, systematic, sequential approach.
  3. Stress Management – The ability to keep functioning effectively when under pressure and maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation.
  4. Personal Credibility – Demonstrated concern that one be perceived as responsible, reliable and trustworthy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Heavy Work – Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. Frequent standing and walking.
  • Bending/Stooping – Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Full motion of the body, lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Ability to run a sand rammer for extended periods of time.
  • Respirator - Must be able to use a respirator and may be exposed to dust and fumes.
  • Travel – Work requires travel by car or airplane and includes extended periods of sitting. National travel will be required.
