Job summary

Big O Tires in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Automotive Service Technician to perform service and installation activities on store products and services with accuracy and timeliness.

You will thoroughly inspect vehicles for safety and reliability, perform diagnostics with your own scan tool, and work on major systems including A/C, brakes, engine, and transmission. Hybrid and EV knowledge is preferred, and strong teamwork and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have strong diagnostic skills and ability to read and interpret vehicle data.
• Able to learn new concepts and use technical materials.
• Ability to move and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and after hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly inspect vehicles for safety, reliability and efficiency.
• Perform flat-rate service tasks efficiently and communicate with customers when approvals are needed.
• Maintain timely and professional communication with team.
• Operate vehicles safely with automatic and manual transmissions.
• Work on major systems including A/C, brakes, cooling, engine, suspension, steering and transmission.
• Possess own scan tool and perform diagnostics.
• Follow company checklists and PPE regulations.

POSITION SUMMARY

As an Automotive Service Technician for Big O Tires, you will perform service and installation activities associated with store products and services in an accurate and timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Thoroughly inspect vehicles from a safety, reliability and efficiency standpoint and fill out on inspection form or through DVI
• Flat rate job which requires jobs to be done accurately and efficiently and move on to another task while waiting on parts or approval from the customer.
• Maintain timely and professional communication with team.
• Keep supervisor informed of any maintenance problems and/or any issues that need attention
• Safely operate customer vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions
• Must be able to work on all major systems of the vehicle from A/C and brakes to the cooling system. engine, Suspension and steering as well as transmission and maintenance. Transmission and engine remove and replacement
• Hybrid and EV knowledge is preferred.
• must possess own scan tool and have strong diagnostic skills
• Maintain a clean environment, tools and equipment, using company guidelines
• Know and adhere to company policies and procedures
• Utilize and perform all duties on the company checklists to meet consistent adherence to policies, procedures and expectations

QUALIFICATIONS

• ASE Certification
• Availability to work holidays, weekends, and after regular business hours as needed
• Reliable transportation to work
• Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials
• Ability to use a two-post lift and other common shop machinery including Hunter Alignment Machine
• Capability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles
• Willingness to work with hazardous materials and in outdoor weather conditions
• Complies with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) regulations
• Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or driving) for up to nine hours per shift
• Ability to move and lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment drug screening, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), and criminal background check
