Job summary

TEC Equipment is seeking an experienced heavy-duty truck technician in Phoenix. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair diesel engines, suspensions, brakes and related systems in a fast-paced shop.

The role requires 3–6 years of hands-on experience with class 6 and 8 trucks, accurate maintenance records, and adherence to safety and EPA regulations. CDL preferred but not required; training and advancement opportunities are available.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-6 years of practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes.
  • Able to perform preventative maintenance services such as oil & transmission changes, replacement of light body components and lights & sensors, etc.
  • Proficient in the repair and diagnosis of: diesel engines; interior & exterior cab components, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakes
  • Proficient in use of all tools of trade
  • Basic computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic software
  • Be able to provide a detailed written analysis and computer input of the three C’s (complaint, cause, correction) as well as details on any repairs
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job (up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, etc.)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain attendance
  • CDL license preferred but not required

Overview

This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks. We offer in-house advanced-training opportunities - we are one of only three dealer groups in North America that is certified to conduct all Mack/Volvo training up to the master tech certification within our in-house Training Centers. We cover travel costs for our technicians to attend training. We also offer a family-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicle to proper operating condition
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance services. Identify worn and damaged parts all parts to include major components, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed
  • Troubleshooting with diagnostic software – charging systems, brakes, suspensions, A/C system
  • Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
  • Ability to be on task to meet shop quality and efficiency standards
  • Maintain safe and organized work area
  • Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations
  • Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job
  • Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications
  • Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job (job requires frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert manner
  • Valid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements. CDL license preferred but not required
Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $23.84 to $29.81.
