Job summary

Paraco Gas Corporation in Saugerties, NY is seeking a Service Technician to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair propane systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, technical quality, and excellent customer service in a dynamic field environment.

You will perform leak checks, start-ups, preventative maintenance, and on-call shifts, with CDL-B HazMat preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ year service technician experience with installation, maintenance, testing, and repair.
• CDL Class B with HazMat endorsement and valid DOT medical certification.
• Safe driving record and DOT compliance.
• Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Knowledge of LP gas piping, propane systems, tank installations, and appliance service.
• CETP certification and propane-industry field experience preferred.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, repair, and remove LP propane tanks, appliances, piping, regulators, and related equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot propane systems and appliances and complete required repairs safely and efficiently.
• Perform leak checks, pressure tests, safety inspections, gas-system start-ups, lockouts, re-installs, and gas odor/leak calls.
• Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, and parts replacement on LP gas appliances and equipment.
• Respond to no-heat, insufficient-heat, and other emergency service calls.
• Complete required service records, vehicle inspections, safety procedures, and documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and properly stocked service vehicle and assigned equipment.
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and completed work clearly to customers and internal teams.
• Follow all company policies and applicable federal, state, local, DOT, and industry safety requirements.
• Complete required CETP/PERC, operator qualification, and company training.
• Provide exceptional customer service and protect customer property while representing Paraco professionally.
• Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Based in Saugerties, New York, the Service Technician installs, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs propane systems, appliances, tanks, and related equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, reliability, technical quality, and excellent customer service.

• Knowledge of LP gas piping, propane systems, tank installations, and appliance service.
• CETP certification and propane-industry field experience preferred.
• Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, gas piping, and/or appliance installation and repair experience preferred.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to regularly lift more than 50 lbs. and perform physical work including bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, stooping, and twisting.
• Ability to work outdoors and travel throughout the assigned service area in varying weather and driving conditions.
• Dependable, proactive, resourceful, and customer-focused with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and contribute to team success.
