Job summary

Lippert Components is seeking a Service Technician to support customer accounts with field service, installation, and maintenance at customer facilities. The role involves diagnosing issues, planning travel, and executing tests to ensure proper operation.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of related experience, a high school diploma (or associate degree), and strong problem-solving and communication skills. Travel to Indiana and Michigan is required, with up to 100% travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Responsibilities

  • Serves existing accounts by analyzing work orders; planning daily travel schedule; investigating complaints; conducting tests; resolving problems.
  • Establishes service by studying system requirements; ordering and gathering components and parts; completing installation; performing acceptance tests.
  • Maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; recommending system improvements.
  • Keeps personal equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Maintains customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
  • Accomplishes operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

The service technician position performs their work offsite at our customer's facilities so the work environments will vary as will any exposures to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites may be loud.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, bend, lift, and move continually during working hours. The employee is subject to lifting over 50 pounds. This position can involve sitting for various periods of time, and also requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; weekend work is also necessary at times.

Travel

This position will require the individual to travel 100% of the time within Indiana and Michigan.

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma and/or related associates degree.
  • One to three years related experience and/or training.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Manufacturing/industry experience.
Work Authorization / Security Clearance
