Job summary

National Vision is hiring an Equipment Service Technician - In House to repair and refurbish optical and lab equipment at our stores. The role provides technical support to retail locations for their exam equipment and may involve on-site visits to install or repair devices.

The ideal candidate has 2-4 years in a technical field, strong mechanical knowledge, and experience with low voltage networking and electronics. GA driver's license is required; HS diploma or associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in a technical field or mechanical trade.
• Advanced mechanical knowledge and application.
• Low Volt/networking knowledge.
• Electronics knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Repairs/refurbishes optical equipment, dismantles, rebuilds, and cleans equipment.
• Evaluates ophthalmic exam equipment and determines repairability or disposal.
• Installs and maintains the local training room exam equipment.
• Handles local store service calls and on-site visits to install or repair equipment.
• Works with vendor engineering teams to resolve equipment issues and gather information.
• Troubleshoots network issues as they pertain to automated exam equipment.
• Maintains troubleshooting docs and improves repair processes as issues arise.
• Manages equipment movement in the inventory system (Microsoft Dynamics EAM).
• Prepares new store optical equipment for shipment and handles packing/palletizing.

Job Description

The role performs all aspects of repairs on various optometric and lab equipment. This position also provides technical support to our retail stores regarding their exam equipment.

What Would You Do? The Specifics.

• Repairs/refurbishes optical equipment. Dismantles, rebuilds, and cleans equipment.
• Evaluates ophthalmic exam equipment following predetermined protocols. Determines if equipment is repairable or should be processed out of the system.
• Installs and maintains the local training room exam equipment.
• Handles local store service calls. Conducts on-site visits to install equipment, repair equipment or swap out equipment. Works with the vendor's technical team to resolve equipment issues, and gathers equipment information.
• Troubleshoots network issues as it pertains to the automated exam equipment.
• Maintains written troubleshooting documentation as new issues and solutions arise. Enhances and streamlines repair processes.
• Processes equipment movement in the inventory system, Microsoft Dynamics (EAM).
• Prepares new store opening's optical equipment for shipment as necessary. Packs and palletizes equipment when needed.
• Assists with special projects and off-site events. Attends vendor training when applicable.
