MFA Oil is seeking a Fuel & Propane Service Technician to install propane and fuel systems, service equipment, and deliver products at company and customer sites. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and customer service in a field-based environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Training and/or experience in truck and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Class A or Class B CDL with tanker, HAZMAT, and air brake endorsements within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to pass MFA Oil Company Road test within 90 days of employment.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to meet company requirements including pre-employment drug screening, MVR, and background checks.

  • Communicate issues and feedback to management in a timely manner.

Overview

The Fuel & Propane Service Technician performs all related service work and installs propane, refined fuel, and lubricant systems. Additionally, this position installs equipment at company and customer locations and completes work orders and inventory cycle counts as directed. This technician assists in attaining assigned goals for safety, installations, and training, and delivers fuel and propane products as needed. Assuring safety standards are met which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines is of the utmost importance for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt and efficient service to all customers, including installation of tanks (propane, refined fuel, and lubricant) and service of existing equipment and systems
  • Work individually or as part of a crew during construction or installation of any petroleum, propane, or associated equipment at company and customer locations
  • Conduct service work as scheduled, including after-hours emergency service
  • Clean and maintain equipment assigned to position
  • Perform work in a safe manner at all times according to company safety procedures
  • Handle all "out of gas" calls according to the company's procedures
  • Provide home office with required information and records on a timely basis
  • Inspect all customer installations (tanks, pumps, regulators, lines, etc.) to assure safe, dependable operations
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair system and equipment issues as assigned
  • Maintain inventory of fuel-related and non-fuel related parts and equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as directed
  • Ensure all customer documentation is accurately completed, including service documentation, credit application, propane tank lease and transfers
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all fixed assets assigned to the plant, including loaned customer equipment
  • Assist plant manager in establishing all eligible customers as members
  • Deliver refined fuel and propane products as needed and assigned
  • Identify and timely communicate to management issues and feedback related to safety, efficiency, training needs and customer needs, questions or concerns
  • Communicate any necessary changes and/or issues directly to supervisor
  • Safely operate vehicle according to MFA Oil Company policies and guidelines, state and federal transportation laws, and other related regulations
  • Properly use handheld systems as needed
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any truck safety issues immediately to supervisor, as well as maintaining truck in a neat and clean condition
  • Present a positive image of MFA Oil Company to the community and be knowledgeable about all products and services offered by the company
  • Support and understand company policies and procedures and communicate those to customers as needed
  • All MFA Oil employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Training and/or experience in truck and equipment maintenance
  • Ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials
  • Ability and willingness to become propane (CETP) certified as determined by the state(s) served
  • Ability and willingness to become MFA Oil crane certified
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker, HAZMAT, and air brake endorsements within the first 90 days of employment, and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements per the vehicle requirements
  • Ability to pass in person training and MFA Oil Company Record of Road test requiring operation of both manual and automatic transmission vehicles within 90 days of employment
  • Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles in a variety of weather and road conditions
  • Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, including handheld delivery tracking device
  • Ability to move and position self to move and retrieve products and supplies from shelves, under counters or stacks of inventory weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or sitting) for up to nine hours per shift
  • Ability to lift 25-pound boxes to a height of 3-4 feet and load them into trucks
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders to deliver fuel
  • Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials
  • Vision, hearing, speech and ability to detect odors
  • Ability to consistently drive and work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Availability to work a rotating on-call schedule, holidays, weekends, and after regular business as needed
  • Reliable transportation to work
  • Ability to exchange accurate information with MFA Oil Company customers in English
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States of America
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment drug screening, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), criminal background check, and MFA Oil Company road test
