Job summary

QXO in Hudson, WI is seeking a Service Technician to perform service, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty work at customer locations and jobsites. What You'll Do

The Service Technician is responsible for performing service, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty work at customer locations and jobsites. This role diagnoses product issues, performs repairs and adjustments, documents completed work, and delivers an exceptional customer experience throughout every service visit. Depending on the business unit, work may include doors, windows, millwork, building products, equipment, or related systems. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, customer-focused, and committed to safety, quality workmanship, and operational excellence.

Service & Field Repairs
  • Perform scheduled service, maintenance, repair, warranty, and adjustment work based on work orders and service requests
  • Diagnose product, installation, and operational issues in the field and implement appropriate repair solutions
  • Inspect products and completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer expectations
  • Verify completed repairs meet manufacturer specifications and company quality requirements
  • Recommend additional repairs, replacement parts, or follow-up service when necessary
Service Preparation & Documentation
  • Review work orders before each service call to ensure required materials, parts, and tools are available
  • Load company vehicles with required products, materials, equipment, and tools
  • Complete service tickets, repair documentation, warranty paperwork, and material requests accurately and on time
  • Document service findings, completed repairs, photographs, and follow-up recommendations
  • Return all completed documentation according to company procedures
Customer Service
  • Communicate with customers regarding appointment times, arrival windows, repair status, and completed work
  • Discuss repair recommendations and completed service with customers to ensure satisfaction
  • Maintain courteous, professional communication throughout each service visit
  • Respond to customer questions and resolve concerns whenever possible
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience while representing QXO professionally
Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance
  • Maintain assigned company vehicle in a clean, safe, and professional condition
  • Inspect company vehicles, tools, and equipment daily to ensure safe operation
  • Report vehicle damage, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns immediately
  • Maintain organized inventory of service tools, materials, and replacement parts
Quality & Operational Support
  • Verify products, materials, and replacement components meet specifications before installation
  • Communicate recurring product quality concerns to supervisors and operations teams
  • Assist with ordering materials or replacement products when additional service is required
  • Support scheduling and coordination of future service visits when necessary
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that improve customer service and operational efficiency
Safety
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at customer locations and within company vehicles
  • Identify and report unsafe working conditions, accidents, near misses, or equipment concerns
  • Participate in required safety meetings and training
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Experience in field service, maintenance, warranty, construction, or related industries
  • Experience servicing building products such as doors, windows, millwork, or similar systems preferred
  • Strong understanding of installation, adjustment, repair, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience working in customer-facing field service roles
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to qualify for company vehicle insurance
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus
  • Work is performed in customer homes, commercial jobsites, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and outdoor environments
  • Frequent travel between customer locations throughout the workday
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, company vehicles, and material handling equipment
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, construction environments, machinery, and seasonal temperatures
  • Ability to work overtime or extended hours based on service schedules and customer needs
