Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is seeking a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic in Grand Prairie, TX to perform heavy‑duty truck repairs under supervision and participate in on‑the‑job training to advance toward service technician status.

Responsibilities include general mechanical duties, motor overhaul, fuel and electrical systems, and diagnostics on major components with supervision; training sessions and safe, organized work space are expected.

Qualifications

• CDL preferred or ability to obtain CDL.
• Minimum three years hands‑on experience or a vocational training graduate.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
• Must bring necessary tools to perform responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform general mechanical duties and assist with repairs.
• Gains experience in motor overhaul, fuel, electrical, transmission, cooling and brakes.
• Work on major components with supervision and troubleshoot minor problems.
• Attend training sessions and keep work area neat and safe.
• Report additional repair needs to Shop Foreman.

Job description

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic. The Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic performs heavy-duty truck repair under general supervision, receiving on the job training in a development program to achieve service technician status.

• Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties.
• Gains experience in motor overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, motor tune‑up, and general maintenance.
• Works on major components with close supervision.
• Performs trouble shooting on minor problems.
• Attends training sessions and meetings.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
