Job summary

Freedom Power is seeking an on-site Solar Installer/Technician to resolve issues with residential and commercial PV, storage, and off-grid systems. You will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires an Apprentice Electrician license, OSHA 10, and a willingness to travel regionally. You’ll work with a Texas-rooted team delivering energy solutions and exceptional service to homeowners and businesses.

Qualifications

• PV system design knowledge relevant to residential/commercial installations.
• Working knowledge of local electrical codes and safety standards.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose solar/storage/off-grid systems.

Responsibilities

• Occasionally access roofs to service panels or components.

Job Summary

In this role, you will be the technical expert to resolve concerns related to solar installations on‑site. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing Residential and Commercial Photovoltaic, Storage, and Off‑Grid systems.

Level of Supervision Required: General

Job Duties

• Respond to service calls from dispatch on behalf of customers with solar system issues.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Solar, Storage, and Off‑Grid systems.
• May get on roofs to physically remove, replace, or repair solar panels.
• Provide exceptional customer service experience to homeowners.
• Communicates findings and follows procedures to the manager.
• Completes necessary paperwork, timekeeping, and inventory processing for all service calls.
• Collects payment for services rendered and potentially upsells customers in the field.
• Complete the jobs disposition form after every service call.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by Service Operations Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competency

• Knowledge of local electrical codes.
• Knowledge of residential PV design and components.
• Thorough understanding of residential AC (MicroInverters) and DC (String & Optimizer) PV systems.
• Must have a thorough understanding of residential electrical systems, and components, and how to work safely around residential electrical components.
• Ability to work alone and with teams in a safe manner.
• Ability to learn new technical skills and diagnostic/troubleshooting processes.

Education and Experience Required

• Prior solar installation experience.
• Valid Apprentice Electrician license Required.
• OSHA 10 Required.
• Valid Driver’s License required; willingness to travel regionally frequently.
• Must be able to withstand heights, climb ladders, being outdoors for long periods in hot and cool climates.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Light lifting and carrying (under 15 lbs)
• Straight pulling and simple grasping
• Walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods
• Operating office equipment and motor vehicles
• Ability to see, identify colors and ability to hear (with aid if needed)
• Ability to write, count, read, and tell time
• Travel by car up to 10% of the time
• Work performed indoors
• Must be able to work both independently and with others
