Job summary

Blake & Pendleton Inc. seeks Field Service Technicians for its AL Branch Regions to perform start-up, preventive, and corrective maintenance on air compressor systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and support customers in manufacturing, utilities, and related industries, reading blueprints and wiring diagrams as needed.

Responsibilities include on-site service, rigging, safe operation of tools, and daily paperwork. A valid driving record and EPA Freon experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years electrical/mechanical industrial experience
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Troubleshoot and repair air compressors and components
• Use multimeters, ammeters, vibration and infrared meters
• Follow safety requirements and company policies
• Read P&ID diagrams and wiring diagrams
• Set up rigging, maintain motors and compressors

Responsibilities

• Perform start-up, preventive, and corrective maintenance in the field
• Provide on-call service and respond during assigned weeks
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain air compressors and components
• Read wiring diagrams and system drawings
• Complete paperwork daily and maintain records

Job description

We are currently seeking Field Service Technicians for our AL Branch Regions. The Service Technician performs field support activities, which involve start-up, preventive, and corrective maintenance within the assigned territory. The selected candidate will possess the air compressor repair experience, knowledge, and skills to effectively utilize related equipment and proven troubleshooting processes and procedures. The position reports to the Service Manager.

A Blake & Pendleton Service Technician provides maintenance/repair support for its customers. Blake & Pendleton customers operate in various industries, such as manufacturing, utility, forestry, mining, etc. Blake & Pendleton primarily supports Sullair compressed air equipment but also supports many other equipment designs.

Responsibilities/Requirements (include But Not Limited To)

• Must have 2 - 5 years of electrical/mechanical industrial experience
• Knowledge of customer equipment operations, able to read and interpret blueprints.
• Must be able to correctly troubleshoot, repair all components and brands of air compressors
• Must be able to properly use multimeters, amp meters, vibration, and infrared meters.
• Must be able to successfully perform the above while meeting the Company and Customer’s safety requirements.
• Read and comprehend P&I drawings, ID/GA drawings, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, cleaning, and setting controls.
• Must be able to set up rigging equipment and safely remove and reinstall motors, compressors, and associated components.
• Must be able to safely use all hand tools and power tools such as drill motors, grinders, band saws, etc.
• Must have an understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic principles and components.
• Knowledge of different types of piping, such as types of copper, black, aluminum, and galvanized.
• EPA certifications with Freon experience are a plus.
• An excellent driving record and the ability to drive a service van or pickup truck are required.
• Complete paperwork daily
• Provide on-call response during the assigned week

ELECTRICAL KNOWLEDGE:

• Skilled in troubleshooting 120V control circuits.
• Must be able to read and comprehend wiring diagrams.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and repair single-phase and 3-phase motor control circuits up to 480V, such as full voltage, reduced voltage, and soft starters, as well as 3-phase and single-phase motor troubleshooting.
• Must be able to properly use multimeters, ammeters, and infrared meters.
• Must be able to successfully perform the above while meeting the Company and
• Customer’s safety requirements.

MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE:

• Read and comprehend P&I drawings.
• Troubleshoot and repair various air compressor control components.
• Must be able to perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, cleaning, and setting controls.
• Must be able to set up rigging equipment and safely remove and reinstall motors, compressors, and associated components.
• Must be able to perform motor alignments.
• Must be able to safely use all hand tools and power tools such as drill motors, grinders, band saws, etc.
• Must have an understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic principles and components.
• Knowledge of different types of piping, such as types of copper, black, and galvanized.
• Knowledge of threading, sweating, brazing, and welding is a plus.
• Must have one can bend and install control tubing such as 1/4" and 5/16" Stainless Steel tubing.

REFRIGERATION:

EPA certifications with Freon experience are a plus.
