Job summary

John Deere in Alamo, TN is seeking an experienced Service Technician to perform diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on agricultural equipment. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, and the ability to read technical manuals and use Service Advisor.

You will follow safety rules, maintain tools and vehicles, and complete time and material reports. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with an Associates degree and basic technician certs preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience performing service repairs.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance using manuals and tools.
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions.
• Valid driver's license required; forklift license preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostics and repairs on agricultural equipment and AMS products.
• Participates in training programs for skill development.
• Keeps knowledge of John Deere and competitors up to date.
• Maintains vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment.
• Keeps a clean, safe work area and follows safety rules.
• Completes reports and forms related to work assignments.
• Accounts for time and materials used on job.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Details

Job Location: Alamo - Alamo, TN 38001, Travel Percentage: Up to 10%, Job Shift: Day, Job Function: Performs diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural equipment. The position may require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Service Location Manager, Shop Foreman or senior technicians.

Major Responsibilities & Duties

• Performs diagnostics and repairs on agricultural equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products
• Participates in training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
• Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
• Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment
• Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
• Accounts for all time on a time card and for all material used in performing assigned duties
• Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no primary supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications: General Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience performing service repairs
• Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
• Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions
• Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Basic Service Technician certification preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
• Associates degree preferred
• Valid drivers license is requiredFork lift license preferred
