Modigent is seeking a Service Retrofit Project Manager - HVAC to lead full-cycle retrofit, replacement, and upgrade projects for commercial buildings. You will manage scope, schedules, budgets, and quality while coordinating with customers, field teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in HVAC project management, a related bachelor's degree, and PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive project management experience in commercial HVAC or retrofit projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Valid driver’s license; OSHA 30-hour certification encouraged; PMP or PM certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle management of HVAC retrofit, replacement, and service upgrade projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and cost forecasts.
• Manage project financials, including tracking costs, variances, change orders, and profitability.
• Coordinate with customers, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to align scope and deliverables.
• Oversee procurement of equipment and materials, review submittals, and ensure timely delivery.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety; identify and resolve issues.
• Manage project documentation (contracts, RFIs, change orders, submittals, as-builts, close-out).
• Ensure compliance with specs, codes, and safety requirements.
• Provide clear communication to stakeholders through meetings, reports, and updates.
• Mentor field teams and support retrofit execution challenges.
• Contribute to process improvements in retrofit workflows and estimating.

Position Overview

As a Service Retrofit Project Manager - HVAC, you'll lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of commercial HVAC retrofit, replacement, and upgrade projects. You will manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality while coordinating closely with customers, field teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, timely, and profitable outcomes. Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle management of HVAC retrofit, replacement, and service upgrade projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and cost forecasts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Manage project financials, including tracking costs, identifying variances, processing change orders, and maximizing profitability.
• Coordinate with customers, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams (sales, field technicians, preconstruction, and operations) to align on scope, expectations, and deliverables.
• Oversee procurement of equipment and materials, review submittals, and ensure timely delivery to support project schedules.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety; proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact the project.
• Manage project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, change orders, submittals, as-builts, and close-out packages.
• Ensure all work complies with project specifications, company standards, applicable codes, and safety requirements.
• Provide clear and timely communication to stakeholders through meetings, reports, and updates on project status, risks, and resolutions.
• Mentor and support field teams, helping to resolve technical or logistical challenges during retrofit execution.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of retrofit processes, estimating accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Yes – Provides functional leadership and coordination to project teams, field technicians, and subcontractors on assigned retrofit projects; may mentor junior project staff or assist with performance feedback.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of progressive project management experience in commercial HVAC, mechanical contracting, or service/retrofit projects, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience with strong HVAC knowledge considered.
• Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; OSHA 30-hour certification encouraged; PMP or other project management certification a plus.
• Physical Demands: Primarily office-based with frequent job-site visits; ability to walk active construction/retrofit sites, climb ladders/stairs, and lift light materials as needed.
• Work Environment/Safety: Professional office with hybrid options and active job sites; must adhere to OSHA regulations, conduct hazard identification, and wear required PPE when on-site—safety is our top priority and non-negotiable. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Required Skills

• Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and risk management.
• Solid technical knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, retrofit methodologies, and integration with building infrastructure.
• Proficiency with project management tools (Procore preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results in a fast-paced service/retrofit environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
