Job summary

VITRONIC Machine Vision is seeking a Service Repair Engineer to maintain and repair roadside enforcement equipment, including cameras and sensors. You will perform diagnostics, calibration, and repairs, ensuring uptime and data quality in field deployments.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the role requires hands-on troubleshooting, documentation, and travel to customer sites as needed. Experience with electronics, networking basics, and field service is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to read wiring diagrams and service procedures.
• Comfort with travel to customer sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, repair, and service checks on enforcement systems.
• Troubleshoot cameras, sensors, flashes, routers, cabling, power, and environmental issues.
• Support image quality and system performance investigations in the field.
• Document service work, findings, parts used, and follow-up actions.

Position Overview

VITRONIC Machine Vision is searching for a Service Repair Engineer. This technical engineer is responsible for maintenance, repair, diagnostics, and field reliability of automated traffic enforcement systems. This role supports the operational readiness and ongoing performance of roadside enforcement equipment, including speed and red-light camera systems, sensors, illumination units, routers, power components, housings, mounting structures, cabling, and related field infrastructure.

The Service Repair Engineer will report to the Service Manager.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostics, maintenance, repair, and service checks for installed enforcement systems.
• Troubleshoots cameras, sensors, flashes, routers, cabling, power, housings, mounting, and environmental conditions.
• Supports image quality and system performance investigations from a field perspective.
• Performs or supports alignment, calibration, inspection, component replacement, and repair activities.
• Documents service work, findings, parts used, risks, and required follow-up actions.
• Identifies recurring field issues and escalates them for problem management or engineering review.
• Supports preventive maintenance schedules, service manuals, troubleshooting procedures, and field checklists.
• Maintains service records, audit trails, calibration documentation, and repair history.
• Works with the Network Engineer when field issues may be caused by connectivity, configuration, signal quality, endpoint reachability, or secure access paths.
• Works with Technical Quality & Performance Managers when field trends, quality issues, recurring failures, or service performance concerns require investigation.
• Works with Implementation/Rollout Engineers during handover from deployment into regular operations.
• Supports urgent service issues when uptime, evidence quality, or customer commitments are affected.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical degree, technical certification, or equivalent practical experience in electronics, electrical systems, field service, mechatronics, industrial systems, or related equipment.
• Experience in field service, maintenance, repair, diagnostics, or technical troubleshooting.
• Ability to troubleshoot physical equipment and isolate likely causes of failure.
• Basic understanding of networking, routers, cabling, power, remote access, and monitoring feedback.
• Ability to work from technical documentation, wiring diagrams, checklists, and service procedures.
• Strong documentation habits and clear communication.
• Ability to work in field conditions and travel to customer or roadside locations as needed.
• Understanding of safety protocols and fieldwork best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with traffic enforcement, ALPR/ANPR, camera systems, LiDAR, radar, flash systems, telecom, utilities, smart city infrastructure, or public safety systems.
• Experience with Linux basics, device logs, remote access tools, network testing, or monitoring systems.
• Experience working with municipal, government, law enforcement, or regulated service environments.
• Experience supporting equipment installed outdoors, roadside, or in other public infrastructure environments.
