Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a capable manager to oversee the service, inspection, and repair work of fire alarm systems across multiple sites. Lead a field team, coach technicians, and coordinate with coordinators to ensure on-time, high-quality execution.

This role requires NICET or Blue Card, NFPA knowledge, strong leadership, and the ability to travel as needed. You will ensure compliance with codes and safety policies while maintaining customer relationships and project handoffs.

Job description

This position is responsible for execution of all service, inspection, and repair work of fire alarm systems. Responsible for monitoring general assigned activities of a team in the field to include inspection, testing, trouble-shooting and subsequent repairs of fire alarm/life safety systems and related components.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations, workflow, and production of the inspections and service departments, ensuring efficient execution of all service, inspection, and repair work across multiple customer sites. Supervise field technicians by providing leadership, coaching, performance management, and development, while also overseeing the Service and Inspection Coordinators responsible for scheduling, dispatching, and daily field coordination. Ensure all inspection and service projects comply with project scope, timelines, quality standards, and applicable fire alarm, security, and building codes and regulations. Provide program support for customer systems, including Access Control, CCTV and Cellular Communicators ensuring proper service, maintenance, and functionality. Monitor departmental performance, productivity, and profitability, implementing improvements to drive efficiency and business results. Ensure accurate and timely completion of service documentation, reporting, and job closeout processes. Respond to escalated service issues and emergency calls as needed, including participation in rotational on-call support. Conduct site visits and inspections to verify quality, progress of work, and compliance with company standards. Maintain strong customer relationships to support retention and long-term service agreements, collaborating with sales and estimating teams to ensure smooth project handoffs from sale to execution. Ensure proper maintenance, care, and utilization of company tools, vehicles, and equipment while enforcing company safety policies, including PPE and vehicle safety compliance. Monitor and ensure all installation employees complete their annual GMG training. Support hiring, training, and onboarding of installation personnel as needed. Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification:

Blue card or NICET (requires prior experience or training) requirred. Knowledge of NFPA standards a plus (including 70 and 72). Experience with commercial and residential systems. Requires the ability to act in a lead capacity and manage teams or groups of individuals on projects. Troubleshooting skills. Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently. Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site. Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evening, weekend and/or out-of-town assignments. Requires the ability to display knowledge of principles, practices, codes and regulations related to the work. Requires the ability to display knowledge of basic practices of reviewing official documents for completeness and accuracy. Requires the ability to recognize and report deviations through inspection programs. Requires the ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations. Requires the ability to maintain accurate records and reports. Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Requires the ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools, ladders, medium equipment and machinery.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects. The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.

Compensation:

$75,000 - $90,000 salary depending on experience
