Job summary

Hawthorne Cat in San Diego, CA is seeking a Service Maintenance Technician to inspect and repair heavy equipment under supervision. You will perform inspections, maintenance, and diagnostic tasks, with tools provided and opportunities for training and growth within rentals.

You should have at least one year of heavy equipment experience, a valid California Class C license, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

One-year minimum experience with heavy equipment/diesel.
May be enrolled in a heavy equipment/diesel program.
Certification or degree from accredited trade program preferred.
Must demonstrate customer service skills.
Must have experience using electronic devices such as laptops and tablets.
Must have a valid California Class C driver's license.
Must read, write and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

Inspect incoming and outgoing equipment for safety and operation.
Log fuel and DEF refills accurately.
Perform routine service and preventative maintenance.
Build positive customer relationships to boost satisfaction.
Stay updated on product knowledge for new models.
Keep a safe, clean work environment.
Maintain shop tools and work areas.
Clean equipment using wash rack and high-pressure washer.
Collaborate with team to complete assigned duties.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Service Maintenance Technician performs incoming and outgoing equipment inspections, small mechanical, and preventative maintenance repairs under close supervision of the service manager along with fellow experienced technicians. All the necessary tooling for this position will be supplied along with the opportunity for training and growth within rentals.

Essential Functions

Determines condition of equipment by preforming all inspections of both incoming (off rental) equipment and outgoing (on rental) equipment inspections to include visual, safety, and proper operation of the equipment.
Completes reports as requested by entering the required amounts of fuel and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) required to properly refill the tanks.
Performs regular service and preventive maintenance tasks on equipment to keep in safe, dependable operating condition ensuring proper operations and the removal of parts and attachments.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer satisfaction
Continually updates product knowledge needed to work on new models.
Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintains shop tools, equipment, and work areas.
Cleans equipment by operating wash rack steam cleaner and high-pressure washer.
Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing duties needed.
Tools will be provided by the company.
Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, And Skills Required

One-year minimum experience with heavy equipment/diesel experience
May be currently enrolled in a heavy equipment/diesel program
Certification or degree from accredited trade program strongly preferred.
Must demonstrate customer service skills.
Must have experience using electronic devices such as laptops tablets, smart phones, and cell phone applications.
Must have a valid California Class C driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Must read, write and speak English fluently.
