Job summary

Job description

The Service & Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. This role supports uptime, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives across advanced equipment and facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and automated systems
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures using diagnostic tools and root-cause analysis
• Support installation, calibration, and commissioning of new equipment and systems
• Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve technical issues and implement process improvements
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (SQCDP) to reduce downtime and operating costs
• Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for service and repairs
• Light fabrication and/or machining fixturing
• Keep workspace clean (shop/trash cans/fab room)
• Assist in supporting the UTAC culture and values (Integrity, Expertise, and Innovation)
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical certification in Mechanical or Electrical is preferred
• 4+ years of hands‑on maintenance experience in industrial, manufacturing, or high‑tech environments
• Knowledge of mechanical systems: couplings, alignments, vibration, pumps
• Knowledge of electrical systems: VFD troubleshooting, AC motors, sensors, and control systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
• Experience with automated systems preferred
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools
• Fluency in the English language is required
• Strong problem‑solving, strategic thinking and analytical skills required
• Able to relay technical information in a way your audience understands
• Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the ability to become proficient with any systems that we use (Concur, Kronos, etc.)
• Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Physical Requirements

• Exposure to industry accepted chemicals and noise
• Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and move about the facility
• Able to lift and/or move materials as needed in the performance of assigned dutiesRequirements include, but are not limited to stand, walk, sit, twist, bend, lift, see, speak, hear
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• May require occasional travel (locally, nationally, internationally)
