Job summary

Radio Holland in New Jersey is seeking a Junior Service Engineer to support operation, maintenance, and service of maritime communication and navigation systems on board vessels.

You will learn from experienced colleagues, perform service jobs as directed, document findings, and develop hands-on skills in a maritime environment; willingness to travel is required.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of hands-on or field experience as an engineer within the maritime industry.
  • Practical maritime engineering experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with vessel systems, maritime communication, navigation, electrical, electronic, or technical service environments is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Execute service jobs on board vessels as directed by the Service Coordinator/Scheduler.
  • Support maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting activities on maritime communication and navigation systems.
  • Prepare service reports in line with Radio Holland standards.
  • Keep the Service Coordinator informed about job status, progress, and completion.
  • Ensure proper documentation of services performed, materials used, and technical findings.
  • Follow QHSE principles, policies, regulations, and standards at all times.
  • Participate in relevant training and development activities to further build technical knowledge and practical skills.

Job description

As a Junior Service Engineer, you will be part of our Deepsea Department, supporting the operation, maintenance, and service of maritime communication and navigation systems. In this role, you will work on service jobs on board vessels, support troubleshooting and maintenance activities, and gradually take more ownership as your technical knowledge and practical experience develop.

You will work closely with experienced colleagues and have the opportunity to further develop your technical and practical skills in a maritime environment.

Responsibilities

As a Radio Holland Junior Service Engineer, you will represent Radio Holland in a professional manner with respect to performance, attitude, safety, quality, and customer service. Your key responsibilities are:

  • Execute service jobs on board vessels as directed by the Service Coordinator/Scheduler.
  • Support maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting activities on maritime communication and navigation systems.
  • Prepare service reports in line with Radio Holland standards.
  • Keep the Service Coordinator informed about job status, progress, and completion.

Skills / Abilities
  • Technical aptitude, with a practical and solution-oriented approach to troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, electronic, communication, or navigation systems.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, accurate, and safety-conscious.
  • Flexible and willing to travel and work on board vessels.
Work Experience
  • 1–3 years of hands‑on or field experience, gained as an engineer within the maritime industry.
  • Practical maritime engineering experience is strongly preferred and considered an important qualification for this role.
  • Experience with vessel systems, maritime communication, navigation, electrical, electronic, or technical service environments is an advantage.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or vocational diploma in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Maritime Technology, Communication Systems, or a related field).
