Service Electrician

Position Summary:

Work involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical/electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. The National Electrical Code and all other applicable standards and specifications are followed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate safe work habits, comply with company safety requirements
• Measure, cut and bend conduit, using a tape measure and hand tools
• Pull electrical wire and cable in conduit using manual and power equipment
• Move/handle various equipment and spools of wire
• Install electrical raceways and wire, conduit, lighting fixtures, controls, machinery and electrical distribution equipment
• Install and bend conduit using manual, mechanical and hydraulic benders
• Proper care for material, tools and equipment
• Assist electricians by performing various tasks
• Operate power tools such as drills, saws, pullers, tuggers, etc.
• Install and maintain secondary distribution systems
• Install and connect power supply wiring to and between machines and equipment by following manuals, schematics, and blueprints
• Test malfunctioning equipment and repair or replace faulty wires, cables, or electronic components
• Install and maintain distribution boxes, switching gear, power and control circuits, etc.
• Install and maintain telephone equipment
• Use common courtesy in everyday contacts with employees, clients, and the general public
• Carry a pager or cell phone and be on-call when necessary
• Work as required in varying weather climates
• Travel out of town and stay overnight as required
• Teach, train, and guide electrical apprentices working under licensed Journeymen

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to physically lift up to and in excess of 75 pounds
• Must be able to climb ladders and steep stairs, crawl, stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, sit, reach, push and pull objects
• Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment
• Ability to work at elevated heights on ladders and/or scaffolds
• Specific vision abilities required
• Must be able to physically work up to ten to twelve hour days
• Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job

Education/Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and has a valid state Journeyman’s license in the applicable state in which the electrician works out of.
