Job summary

Barminco Mining Services USA LLC in Elko, NV is hiring an Underground Service Crew to install, maintain and repair underground services at a project site about 65 miles outside of Elko. The role follows a 14-days on / 14-days off rotation with camp and meals provided.

The successful candidate will report to the Shift Supervisor and adhere to safety standards while performing duties related to air/water/pump lines, electrical cables, pumps and communication equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Preferred: 1-2 years of underground experience working as part of a service crew.
• Must have good radio etiquette and strong communications skills.
• Able to manage time, plan and prioritize workload to meet mining requirements.
• Manual transmission experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Mine site safety rules and procedures to ensure everyone’s safety.
• Install, maintain, and repair underground services (air/water/pump lines, ventilation bags, cables, pumps).
• Install grout and tension cable bolts; install/repair communication equipment.
• Support construction activities (ventilation walls, concrete forming/pouring).
• Maintain housekeeping and ensure PPE compliance; comply with all site rules.

The Opportunity:
Barminco Mining Services USA LLC has an exciting opportunity for an Underground Service Crew to join our team at a project location 65 miles outside of Elko, Nevada. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing all underground services. The incumbent is expected to adhere to and maintain all company standards and perform duties to the highest levels of safe operation.

Shift: 14-days on / 14-days off rotation

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate commitment to adhere to all Mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of others.
• Install, maintain, and repair all underground services e.g.: air/water/pump lines (using poly piping), messenger line, ventilation bags, temporary electrical cables, submersible pumps in sumps, pump stations.
• Install grout, plate, and tension of cable bolts.
• Installing and removing communication equipment, ie Leaky feeder, tele remote comms.
• Assist with the construction work; ventilation walls, concrete forming/pouring, pump installations/plumbing.
• Safely use hand tools to undertake certain tasks.
• Practice good general housekeeping, clean and maintain equipment to a high standard.
• Maintain a valid Driver's License; manual transmission experience an asset
• Understand and comply with all PPE requirements in work areas
• Other duties may be assigned by your Supervisor, as required

Qualifications:

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
• Preferred; 1-2 years of underground experience working as part of a service crew
• Perform other related work as assigned for underground development mining
• The ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism and self-motivation is essential
• Proven ability to recognize and follow verbal and written instructions
• Able to manage time, plan and prioritize workload to ensure support task meet mining requirements.
• Must have good radio etiquette and strong communications skills
• Eagerness to learn and grow

Work Conditions:

• Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), typically the rotations are 1 week on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 1 week off - working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
• Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
• Extreme weather conditions
• Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
