The Early Intervention Service Coordinators assist families of children with developmental delays by:

  • Coordinating services across agencies
  • Providing information on available services, resources, and options
  • Assisting in the development of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP)
The Initial Service Coordinator

The Initial Service Coordinator is assigned to ensure that all eligible children with disabilities and their families receive necessary services by:

  • Informing families of their rights and available services, ensuring communication in their primary language and maintaining confidentiality
  • Collaborating with other private or public agencies providing services to the family
  • Helping families identify, apply, and access benefits programs
  • Assisting in selecting evaluators and arranging initial evaluations
  • Explaining the IFSP process, including meeting participants, purpose, strategies, and the option to include other professionals
  • Informing families that services can be delivered in various settings such as early childhood programs, the child's home, or other appropriate environments
The Ongoing Service Coordinator

The Ongoing Service Coordinator ensures children with disabilities and their families receive services as outlined in the IFSP by:

  • Coordinating evaluations and assessments
  • Participating in the development, review, and evaluation of IFSPs
  • Helping families identify service providers
  • Monitoring and coordinating service delivery
  • Collaborating with healthcare providers and making referrals as needed
  • Developing transition plans to preschool or other supports and services, if appropriate
