DPR Construction in Durham, NC is seeking an Equipment Service Technician who can diagnose, repair, and maintain rental equipment to ensure safety and reliability. The role supports shop-based and field service activities, prioritizing work that keeps projects on schedule and compliant with company standards.

You will work with branch leadership to plan repairs, perform preventive maintenance per OEM schedules, and document work orders.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in equipment service or related mechanical field.
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • CDL is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and follows OEM service schedules to maintain fleet health.
  • Troubleshoots issues, identifies repair scope, and escalates when necessary.
  • Generates and closes work orders documenting diagnostics, labor, and parts usage.
  • Maintains OSHA and site safety standards and proper use of PPE.
  • Assists with parts ordering, stocking, and coordinating repairs with branch staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel-powered rental equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and executes OEM-recommended service schedules to maintain fleet health and compliance.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues, identifies repair scope, and escalates complex failures to Heavy Diesel Mechanic or Service & Repair Lead when necessary.
  • Generates, updates, and closes work orders documenting diagnostics, labor, parts usage, and repair outcomes to support fleet reporting and audit requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with OSHA, OES EHS, and site-specific safety standards while ensuring proper use of PPE and safe repair practices.
  • Assists with parts ordering, stock management, and inventory organization to support timely equipment turnaround.
  • Collaborates with branch staff and operations teams to prioritize production equipment repairs based on fleet demand.
Education Qualifications
  • High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
Work Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in equipment service, repair, or related mechanical field required.
Certifications And Licenses
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-Hour General Industry certification required.
  • Commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred.
