Job summary

The Server role at Mattel, Inc. is located at the AG Retail Flagship Chicago location and reports to the Assistant Cafe Manager. You will deliver food and beverages, provide an outstanding dining experience, and help guests navigate events and store happenings.

We seek candidates with ServSafe, 1–2 years in a busy restaurant, and experience with restaurant systems. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is required, with a physically demanding but rewarding work environment.

Qualifications

• ServSafe certification preferred.
• 1–2 years in a high-volume or fine dining restaurant preferred.
• Banquet or catering experience is a plus.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Comfort with restaurant computer systems.
• Physically demanding role requiring lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work flexible shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and inform them about menu items and events.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all menu items and ingredients.

The Team

The American Girl Retail team is integral in providing lifetime memories to American Girl fans and their families. Our experiential retail stores provide shopping destinations like no other. This requires Innovation, Collaboration, and Execution from all who are a part of this division. Our in-store experiences range depending on location from Girl and Doll Salons, Full-Service Restaurants, Personal Shopping, Ear Piercing (Girl and Doll), hosting Parties/Celebrations to name a few. Expect a dynamic and fast-paced role where you get to make decisions that impact the team as well as our customers.

The Opportunity

The Server is located at the AG Retail Flagship Chicago location and reports directly to the Assistant Cafe Manager. This position is responsible for delivering food and beverages and providing an outstanding dining experience to our Restaurant guests.

What Your Impact Will Be

• Attentively greet all customers upon arrival and inform guests of food and beverage options. Share information on store and restaurant events with guests.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of all menu items and ingredients and suggest menu items for those guests with food allergies.
• Consistently address customer concerns and special requests in a professional and timely manner.
• Execute all aspects of food and beverage service efficiently, including suggestive upselling, timely delivery of food and beverage orders, checking and maintaining tables throughout the seating, and preparing, delivering, and processing table checks through the InfoGenesis register system.
• Follow food and workplace safety guidelines and understand local and state health sanitation laws.
• Contribute to a positive, cooperative work environment by assisting co-workers and helping the restaurant team with parties, storewide events, and projects.

What We’re Looking For

• ServSafe certification, preferred.
• One to two years of experience in a high volume and/or fine dining restaurant preferred.
• Banquet or catering experience is a plus.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Ease of use with restaurant computer systems preferred.
• Physically demanding position strength, mobility and dexterity needed. You must be able to carry a serving tray/beverage tray and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The pay range for this position is between $12.96 and $12.96 per hour. The pay range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base pay will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
