Job summary

The Orchards Health Center in Mission Viejo, CA is hiring a Server/Nutrition Services Diet Aide for both full-time and part-time roles. The role focuses on table service in community dining rooms and delivering exemplary customer service to residents, following standards of restaurant dining service.

Shifts include FT 6:00am-2:30pm Mon Tue Thu Sat and PT 4pm-8pm Fri & Sat. Benefits include 401k with employer match, tuition assistance, commuter reimbursement, onsite gym, and more.

Qualifications

• Six months' experience as a diet aide or diet clerk in a skilled nursing facility preferred but not required; on-the-job training provided.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Excellent customer service, reliability, organizational skills, and teamwork.
• Food Handler card (can be obtained after hire).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for table service within community dining rooms and delivering exemplary customer service to residents.
• Complete pre and post-meal checklists and prepare meal trays following therapeutic diet menus.
• Take orders courteously, clear tables, and assist with nourishments and dessert portions.
• Set up and break down dining room stations, transport items to and from the kitchen, and maintain sanitary work areas.

The Server/Nutrition Services Diet Aide is responsible for table service within the community dining rooms. This position will require all standards of restaurant dining service are met and exemplary customer service will be provided to all residents.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

• Responsible for completing pre and post-meal time checklists for skilled nursing trayline and assisted living dining services.
• Prepares meal trays for skilled nursing trayline and achieves competency in understanding of therapeutic diets menus.
• Takes assisted living residents orders graciously and courteously, listens with patience.
• Clears dished from dining room tables, before, during, and after meal service.
• Assists with the preparation and portioning of nourishments, snacks, salads and desserts.
• Sets up tables in the health center dining rooms and breaks down same after meal.
• Transports hot and cold foods to and from the kitchen. Transports all required non-food items to and from the kitchen.
• Maintains station equipment and work area in safe and sanitary conditions per manufacturer guidelines.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
• Follows proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense.
• Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Strong desire to work with and have empathy for the elderly.
• Excellent customer service and listening skills.
• Be reliable, organized and a team player
• Food Handler card (can be obtained after hire)
• Six Month's experience as a diet aide, diet clerk in a skilled nursing facility preferred but not required. Will train on-the-job.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
• Ability to interpret standardized recipes, instructions, specifications and standards.
• Ability to plan and organize work, set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards.
