Overview
The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. The incumbent is also responsible for serving food and beverages in accordance with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol's standards.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position)
- Oversee all aspects of service for each table, managing pace and timing of the meal, ensuring all steps of service are met, and that support staff duties are completed promptly.
- Create an atmosphere that induces guests to choose Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol for gaming entertainment; actively build and retain guest relations and mentor team members to provide superior guest service.
- Recognize guests immediately with a friendly, courteous greeting and inform them of daily specials, soup of the day, etc. Act as a “walking information center,” providing information on all aspects of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol's services and facilities.
- Assist guests with menu and beverage selection, demonstrating salesmanship with complete menu and product knowledge.
- Ensure guest satisfaction through food quality checks and responsiveness to guest complaints.
- Maintain a well-groomed, neat, and clean appearance, with attention to sanitation and safety.
- Anticipate, identify, and provide for guest needs.
- Perform inventories and other duties as assigned.
- Perform tasks related to server sidework, organization, cleaning, and restocking of the restaurant.
- Attend and participate in meetings, completing follow-up as assigned.
- Perform work regularly and predictably.
- Participate in tableside preparation and service of food and beverages.
- Assist with other duties at special events or parties, including but not limited to carving, cooking, setup, and teardown stations or work areas.
- Prepare and serve nonalcoholic beverages including soda, juice, tea, coffee, and espresso beverages.
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work and public spaces.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Typically acquired through 3 years restaurant experience, including at least 1 year in upscale / fine dining.
Knowledge Of
- Excellent menu knowledge.
- Excellent wine knowledge and proper wine presentation skills.
- Excellent multitasking and prioritizing skills.
- Table service procedures and etiquette.
- Excellent customer service/hospitality skills.
Ability To
- Present an image of excitement, enthusiasm, and outgoing personality, while maintaining a professional appearance.
- Work varying shifts and schedules as needed.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and guests.
- Restock needed materials and retrieve dropped items.
- Transport trays and/or plates weighing up to 50 pounds, serve food and beverages.
- Take orders, recite specials, and point out menu items to customers using POS systems.
- Continue education related to food, wine, beer, spirits, and service techniques.
Additional Details
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Pass the server qualification exam with a score of 80% or better.
- Obtain and maintain valid licenses/certifications per regulations.
- Pass background check and drug screening.
- Maintain a valid food handler's certification for California.
- Complete training for Responsible Alcoholic Beverage Service.
- Be at least 18 years old.
