Job summary

Southern Tier is hiring a Server Assistant in a fast-paced taproom environment. You will deliver orders, maintain table cleanliness, and support both guests and staff to ensure a smooth dining experience.

Experience as a server assistant or food runner is preferred. Candidates should be able to multitask, communicate clearly, and lift up to 60 pounds. This role includes tips and a dynamic team culture.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean taproom by clearing glasses and other items to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
• Visually inspect all food leaving expo for proper plating and presentation; return incorrect items to kitchen.
• Deliver food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items to guests.
• Maintain inventory levels and change kegs as required.
• Assist with dining area cleaning, restocking server stations, and rolling silverware.
• Assist guests and servers/bartenders with hospitality tasks as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Server Assistant

The Server Assistant provides table service to taproom guests by delivering orders to the table and ensuring that guests have a pleasant dining experience by maintaining table cleanliness.

Reports to: General Manager or Front of House Manager on duty

Pay: Compensation for this position is $10.70 plus tips

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Maintain a clean taproom by clearing empty glasses, plates, silverware, and other items from a table to ensure a pleasurable dining experience and efficient turnover of tables for new guests.
• Visually inspect all food leaving expo, ensuring proper plating, sauce application, and presentation; and return any incorrect or improperly cooked orders to the kitchen for correction.
• Deliver food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items to guests.
• Maintains appropriate levels of inventory/product for the bar, changing kegs when required.
• Assist with other tasks such as cleaning the dining area, restocking server stations, and rolling silverware.
• Assist guests and servers/bartenders with other hospitality functions as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Previous experience as a server assistant, utility, or food runner preferred
• Must maintain a positive attitude while working with a sense of urgency
• Must be able to multitask
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
• Contribute to overall taproom and kitchen cleanliness
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to lift, move, and carry kegs weighing up to 60 pounds
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent bending, stooping and reaching
