Job summary

Fairmont New Orleans is seeking a guest-focused server assistant to support the Delmonico Steakhouse and front-of-house team in delivering luxury dining experiences. You will help with greeting guests, delivering courses, and maintaining pristine service areas.

Ideal candidates have prior hospitality or fine-dining exposure, a polished demeanor, and the ability to work flexible evenings, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced luxury setting.

Qualifications

Job Description

• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, standards, and Delmonico Steakhouse service expectations.
• Support Servers and other Front of House team members in delivering attentive, efficient, and personalized service.
• Anticipate guest and service team needs and respond promptly and professionally.
• Greet and acknowledge guests in a warm, courteous, and professional manner when interacting with them throughout the dining experience.
• Assist with the delivery and presentation of food and beverages to guest tables in accordance with service standards.
• Ensure food is delivered to the correct table and assist Servers with proper placement and clearing of dishes.
• Maintain complete knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and common guest questions to provide accurate information when appropriate.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper appearance of guest tables, service stations, side stations, and assigned work areas.
• Clear and reset tables promptly and discreetly while minimizing disruption to the guest experience.
• Replenish water, bread service, silverware, glassware, napkins, condiments, and other service items as directed.
• Assist with pre-shift and post-shift setup and breakdown of the restaurant, including stocking service stations and ensuring all required supplies are available.
• Assist with maintaining proper levels of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other operating supplies.
• Communicate effectively with Servers, Captains, Managers, Culinary, and other departments to ensure smooth service.
• Assist in coordinating the timely delivery of food from the kitchen to the dining room.
• Monitor assigned areas throughout service and promptly address cleanliness, presentation, or guest-service needs.
• Handle dishes, glassware, and equipment safely and properly.
• Assist with special events, private dining, large parties, and other outlet functions as assigned.
• Respond appropriately to guest requests and immediately communicate complaints or service concerns to the Server or Manager.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with luxury hotel and fine-dining standards.
• Maintain strict compliance with all health, sanitation, safety, and hotel requirements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager, Captain, or other culinary/F&B leadership.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment preferred.
• Previous fine-dining or luxury hospitality experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to maintain a professional and polished demeanor in a high-end dining environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional guest service.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to anticipate needs and demonstrate a sense of urgency while maintaining composure.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities during busy service periods.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and transport food, dishes, glassware, and service equipment.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must be available to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
