Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Server Administrator opportunity in Corvallis, OR, supporting HPC operations and enterprise IT services. The role emphasizes delivering stable, reliable server and storage infrastructure with strong Linux expertise and collaboration across teams.

The candidate will lead troubleshooting, plan reviews, and implementation of IT initiatives while maintaining documentation and on-call rotation readiness for a regulated, high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• BS in CS or technical degree required; alternatively 12 years of directly related work experience in lieu of degree.
• 8+ years of experience in complex IT environments, deploying and supporting enterprise systems and infrastructure across storage, cloud, networking, OS and applications.
• Strong Linux knowledge for high availability environments; experience with enterprise ISA servers (HPE/Dell/IBM).
• Scripting or programming experience (Bash, Powershell, CMD, VBScript, C#, ASP.Net).

Responsibilities

• Assist in troubleshooting and maintenance of Linux systems.
• Maintain core internal storage, backup, and recovery systems.
• Troubleshoot HPC-related issues (Linux/Windows) and coordinate with teams.
• Schedule and coordinate server and storage maintenance windows.
• Coordinate application deployments with support personnel and project managers.
• Remote support and on-call duties may be required on a rotation basis.

Job Title: Server Administrator

Position Description:

Protingent Staffing has an excitingcontract Server Administrator with our client located in Corvallis, OR.

Job Description:

• The Server Administrator 3 position has technical strengths and helps with plan review and implementation of IT operations initiatives particularly around the HPC system.
• This role can serve as a technical leader in a focus area; works with the team to deliver stable, reliable, and flexible systems services to support primarily engineering and HPC processes; and keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies in order to review and implement strategic initiatives for new or enhanced services as appropriate.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in the troubleshooting and maintenance of Linux systems
• Maintain and administer core internal storage, backup, and recovery systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve HPC related issues which may be Linux or Windows based starting points
• Schedule and coordinate server and storage hardware maintenance windows with support personnel
• Coordinate application deployment with support personnel and project managers
• Remote support and on-call hours may be required on a rotational basis
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• A minimum of a B.S. degree in Computer Science or other technical degree from a four year accredited college/university is required. Alternatively, an additional 4 years (12 total) of directly related, full-time work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. A systems related certification (RHCSA, MCSA, VCP, or similar) may be credited for up to three years towards additional experience if no degree.
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience in complex IT environments. This includes direct experience deploying and supporting enterprise systems and infrastructure across technology towers (storage, cloud, networking, operating systems, and applications). A systems related certification (RHCSA , MCSA, VCP or similar) is strongly preferred.
• The position requires knowledge in many of the following areas as it relates to designing, implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting operational incidents:
  • Strong understanding of Linux operating systems/networking in high performance high availability environments
  • Experience managing enterprise-class ISA server hardware (HPE, Dell, or IBM)
  • Strong networking skills with an understanding of LAN, WAN, firewall, & VPN concepts
  • Experience with enterprise-grade central backup software, VTL, and/or tape libraries
  • Strong understanding of iSCSI and Fibre Channel SAN technology in a multi-path environment
  • Demonstrated excellent technical documentation ability
  • Demonstrated professionalism and skills to present and communicate effectively with internal departments
  • Scripting or programming (e.g.: Bash, Powershell, CMD, VBScript, C#, ASP.Net, etc.)
• Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Job Details:

• Job Type: Contract
• Pay Rate: $40-$60 an hour.
• Location: Corvallis, OR Onsite or Portland, Oregon Area.
