Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Assistant (PCA). The role includes direct patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, and documenting vital signs and intake/output in the EHR. Training is provided, and no prior healthcare experience is required.

Compensation ranges per the union contract, with scheduled shifts including days/evenings. This is a part-time position with ample opportunities for development in a leading healthcare system.

Responsibilities

Available positions include part‑time day/evening shifts 0.5‑0.7 FTE (20‑56 hours per week). Scheduling preferences will be discussed during interview process.

Patient Care Assistants (PCA) are hired to work at either Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus or Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus.

Training and Development

• Comprehensive full‑time, paid training, including classroom and on‑the‑job learning.
• No prior healthcare experience required.
• Ongoing support and guidance from experienced healthcare professionals.

The skills and responsibilities of a Patient Care Assistant align closely with those of a Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals with CNA or patient care experience.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age prior to start date. Must be able to read, write, communicate, and understand English. Ability to follow written and verbal directions.

Additional Qualifications

Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.

License or Certification

If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross, the Basic Life Support certification will be included as part of the orientation program. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
