Job summary

The Moorings Club Inc. is seeking a attentive Server to provide a positive dining experience for Members in a friendly, efficient manner. You will be attentive to Member needs, promote a welcoming atmosphere, and ensure accuracy in orders and charges.

Responsibilities include knowledge of the menu, wine pairings, transmitting orders, maintaining sanitation standards, serving meals, and assisting during peak times. Must have 2 years food & beverage experience and a high school diploma.

Responsibilities

Job description

Basic Function:

Responsible for providing a positive experience for Members in a friendly and efficient manner and play an integral role in ensuring they have an exceptional dining experience. At all times, Servers are expected to be attentive to Member needs, making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

The following job duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Expected to maintain knowledge of current menu offerings, food and wine pairings, specialties and to be prepared to answer questions about such items.
• Throughout shift, be aware of menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, et.
• Transmit orders to bar and kitchen by recording food/beverage choices; accommodating special dietary needs and special requests.
• Adhere to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policies.
• Maintain table settings by removing finished courses and replenishing utensils as necessary.
• Serve orders when Server Assistants are unavailable.
• Respond to additional patron requirements by inquiring of needs; observing dining process.
• Properly open and serve wine at tableside.
• Remove dishes upon completion of meal.
• Suggest and serve desserts, coffee and after-dinner drinks.
• Perform basic cleaning tasks as assigned by Food and Beverage Manager or Captain.
• Promptly address customer service issues and advise Food & Beverage Manager before or immediately after they occur.
• Complete all end-of-shift reports and verify Member charges are signed and correct.
• Perform all closing duties as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Maintain The Moorings Yacht & Country Club commitment to member satisfaction while performing job duties.
• Learn Members name in an effort to recognize individuals as they enter the Club.
• Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with Members, their guests or other employees.
• Comply with all rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and/or established by the Board of Governors.
• Adhere to the Club’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
• Must be cognizant of the rules and regulations of the facility for the safety and welfare of the staff and members.

• Attend pre-meal meetings as requested by dining room supervisor.

Physical Demands of Work Environment:

• Requires indoor and outdoor work.
• Schedule and times are usually set but may vary occasionally. Work week is Monday through Sunday.
• While performing duties of the job, employee is required to stand for most of their shift. Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee is required to regularly kneel or crouch, bend, reach overhead and walk.
• Must be able to pull and lift up to fifteen (15) pounds regularly and occasionally up to forty (40) pounds.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Machines/Equipment/Tools used:

• Uniform required (Club provided).
• CE Club Point of Sale software, Windows format or other Club software as applicable.
• Two retractable pens, crumber, wine key, lighter, side towel and name tag (Club supplied).
