Server – MBK Senior Living
Server is responsible for making the residents’ dining experience pleasant and positive by providing the highest-quality dining service that considers resident preferences and exceptional customer service, while maintaining dining areas, seating residents, and serving meals.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional dining service by taking accurate food orders and serving appetizing, visually appealing meals to residents, family members, and guests in a professional, efficient, and courteous manner.
- Uphold a high standard of table etiquette by serving from the left, clearing dishes between courses, and resetting tables for subsequent service to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
- Engage with residents in a friendly and courteous manner, assisting with meal and menu selections and attending to dining needs.
- Review and adhere to residents’ dietary needs, restrictions, and preferences as outlined by the Supervisor and in their care plan.
- Track resident meal attendance and communicate with designated team members in a timely manner for a safety check on absent residents.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere by ensuring all residents are properly and promptly greeted, seated, and integrated, especially new residents.
- Deliver meals to and retrieve trays from residents’ rooms after meal service, when required, for those who opt for room service.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary dining area, including tables, chairs, and serving stations, and fully comply with all food safety handling and service protocols.
- Assist with breaking down deliveries, stocking, washing dishes, and other support duties as needed.
- Assist in community marketing efforts through positive interactions, dress, and behavior by following all grooming and dress standards.
- Cooperate and assist with other kitchen and dining services to ensure residents have a positive dining experience.
- Promptly report any safety or equipment issues to the Supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents and guests following established safety standards, policies and procedures.
- Promote teamwork and open communication through consistent mentoring, coaching and recognition programs in alignment with MBK principles and core values.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed by Lead, Supervisor, Director of Dining Services, or designee.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) – highly preferred.
- Exposure to restaurant operations or the ability to learn – at least 1–2 years (desired).
Required Competencies & Certifications
- Age 18 or older with proper work permit and authorization documentation.
- Completion of required background clearances, health screening and negative TB test within last 6 months.
- Basic counting skills (tracking meals/residents).
- Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, writing, reading).
- Ability to operate standard serving equipment (salad bar, heating cart, trays, etc.).
- Professionalism and tact when dealing with personnel, residents, family, guests, vendors, and public.
- Must meet and maintain all state-specific regulatory requirements, such as Food Handler Certification.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Mobile; ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk, bend, kneel, squat, pull, reach overhead, and perform repetitive motions.
- Move intermittently throughout the workday and in the community.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 250 pounds as necessary.
