Position Summary

Servers at JAG are ambassadors of our cuisine, beverage, and story. You’ll guide guests through the menu with warmth and expertise, deliver each course to standard, and create memorable experiences that drive loyalty. This role requires sharp attention to detail, strong product knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented service.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Hospitality
  • Provide genuine, anticipatory hospitality from greeting to farewell; adapt pace and style to the guest.
  • Present menus, describe features, and make thoughtful, personalized recommendations.
  • Maximize sales through suggestive selling, coursing guidance, pairings, and check-building with integrity.
Service Execution
  • Own your section: manage timing, coursing, seat numbers, and table maintenance to JAG standards.
  • Enter orders accurately; monitor fire times and coordinate with food runners, bar, and expo.
  • Execute table touches and quality checks; anticipate needs for refills, share plates, and utensils.
Product Knowledge
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of menu items, ingredients, sourcing, allergens, and preparation.
  • Understand beverage list basics (wine/spirits/beer), featured cocktails, and pairing suggestions.
  • Participate in tastings, line‑ups, and trainings; retain and apply new information quickly.
Guest Recovery & Communication
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly with empathy and sound judgment; loop in leadership when needed.
  • Use guest feedback tools and follow escalation protocols to ensure issues are fully addressed.
Compliance & Safety
  • Follow all DOH/health codes, allergy protocols, and sanitation procedures (clean‑as‑you‑go).
  • Adhere to responsible alcohol service policies and age‑verification procedures.
  • Keep stations and sidework areas organized to safety and readiness standards.
Sidework & Readiness
  • Complete opening/closing and shift sidework, restocking, polishing, and station setup/breakdown.
  • Support expo/runner/reset duties during peak periods to keep service flowing.
Technology & Cash Handling
  • Use POS accurately; handle cash and payments per policy; protect guest data and receipts.
  • Follow comps/voids/discount procedures and maintain check integrity.
Events & Private Dining (as applicable)
  • Support PDR/events with preset menus, coursing timelines, and coordinated service.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ year of serving experience in upscale casual, casual‑fine, or fine dining (or equivalent hospitality role); high-volume experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, guest‑recovery, and teamwork skills; calm under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of POS systems (e.g., MICROS/Toast) and reservations platforms (e.g., Resy/SevenRooms).
  • Food Handler and Responsible Alcohol Service certifications (or ability to obtain).
  • Reliable attendance and schedule flexibility (nights, weekends, holidays).
  • Ability to learn and retain detailed menu/beverage knowledge.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Stand/walk for extended periods (up to 8+ hours).
  • Lift and carry up to 25–35 lbs.; balance and carry trays; frequent bending/reaching.
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment with variable noise, temperature, and lighting.
