Job summary

The Cottages of Carmel, part of Oakmont Senior Living, is seeking a Server to join our dining team in Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA. The role supports residents and their guests with friendly, courteous service and helps ensure an exceptional dining experience.

Shifts include Full Time: AM 6:00 am–2:00 pm and PM 11:00 am–7:30 pm. Starting pay ranges from $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, with benefits available for eligible team members.

Qualifications

• Experience is preferred but not necessary; training provided.
• Must be at least 16 years of age with a work permit.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong desire to work with the elderly.
• Pass background check and health screening including TB tests.
• Vaccination/ PPE per regulatory guidelines may be required.

Responsibilities

• Serve residents, family members, and visitors in a professional, dignified, efficient, and courteous manner.
• Accurately and professionally take residents’ and guests’ food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS.
• Set up and break down tables.
• Assure compliance with proper serving techniques/etiquette.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests.
• Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.

The Server

is responsible for serving food in a friendly, courteous manner, and performing a variety of duties in and around the dining area and kitchen in order to enhance the customers' experience, in accordance with the company’s mission, and values.

Responsibilities

• Serve residents, family members, and visitors in a professional, dignified, efficient, and courteous manner.
• Accurately and professionally take residents' and guests’ food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS (point of sale computer).
• Set up and break down (bus) tables.
• Assure compliance with all proper serving techniques/etiquette (e.g. serving from left, clearing used dishes between courses, etc.).
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests, following established safety standards.
• Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.

Qualifications

• Experience is preferred but not necessary; we will train the right candidate.
• Must be at least 16 years of age with a work permit.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong desire to work with the elderly and care for their needs.
• Possess written and verbal skills to interact and communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, physicians, healthcare professionals, residents, and their families.
• Must pass a Criminal Background check and Health Screening tests, including physical and TB Tests.
• For the health and safety of our team members and residents, Oakmont Management Group may require team members to vaccinate, participate in daily screening, surveillance testing, and to wear face coverings and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 or other communicable diseases, per regulatory guidelines.
