Northstar Tavern Inc. is seeking an experienced Server to join our busy Bloomington tavern team. You will greet guests, take orders, suggest drinks and dishes, and ensure a memorable dining experience. Weekend availability is required, and you will work with a welcoming, fast-paced team.

As the face of the restaurant, you’ll maintain high standards of hospitality, assist with side work, and contribute to a positive guest experience through attentive service and teamwork.

Qualifications

Our high-volume, bustling tavern is looking to add more experienced servers to our team! weekend availability is a pre-requisite

Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions in a friendly and efficient manner. They play an integral role in restaurant as a whole and ensuring Guests have exceptional dining experiences. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our Guests’ needs by making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.

Responsibilities

• Help customers select food and beverages by menu presentation; offering cocktails; suggesting courses; explaining the chef's specialties; identifying appropriate wines and other beverages; answering food preparation questions.
• Stay updated on current menu choices, beer and wine lists, specials and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, etc.
• Transmit orders correctly and efficiently to bar and kitchen by recording guests choices; identifying any special dietary needs and special requests.
• Serve orders by picking up and delivering guests choices from bar and kitchen; deliver accompaniments and condiments from service bars.
• Respond to additional guest requirements by inquiring of needs; observing dining process.
• Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils and china; refilling water glasses; being alert to guest spills or other special needs.
• Properly open and pour wine at the tableside.
• Conclude dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant; inviting patrons to return.
• Obtain revenues by totaling charges; issuing bill; accepting payment; delivering bill and payment to host; returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by manager.
• Prepare dining room, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates and utensils.
• Fill in for absent staff as needed.
• Assist with special events as needed.
• Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
• Promptly address customer service issues and refer customers to management when necessary.
• Completing side work to the fullest extent

• Working as a team with co-workers- the whole restaurant is your section and every guest is your guest.
